Chicken Shashlik is a popular dish of skewered marinated chicken, typically grilled over hot coals or a gas flame. Here's how you can make it at home:

Ingredients:

  • 500 g boneless chicken breasts, cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 1 large onion, cut into squares
  • 1 large red bell pepper, cut into squares
  • 1 large green bell pepper, cut into squares
  • 8-10 cherry tomatoes
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp white wine or rice vinegar
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp cumin

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the oil, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, white wine or rice vinegar, garlic, paprika, oregano, basil, thyme, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  2. Add the chicken to the marinade, making sure to coat each piece well. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
  3. Preheat your grill to high heat.
  4. While the grill is heating up, skewer the chicken pieces alternating with the onion, bell peppers, and cherry tomatoes.
  5. Place the skewers on the hot grill and cook for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is fully cooked and no longer pink in the center.
  6. Serve hot with your favorite side dishes.
